Team Management

Riders can now manage their own teams. That includes creating a new team, changing your name, sending invites out to others to join you, and at any time, see a list of team members. 

A position on a team is not included in the transfer (i.e. if you are receiving a transferred entry and want to be on a team, you must contact the team captain to add you to the team).

WHAT TO DO?

Log in to the CCN account created when you registered for the RBC GranFondo Whistler. You'll need the email address used to register for the event. If you've forgotten your password, you can opt to have it emailed to you.

Select "My Registrations" in the right hand column.

You'll see 4 tabs: click on the "Team" tab to create a new team or invite others to join your team.

Confirming who’s registered on your team can be done on the Registration Confirmation Page.

Deadline for team changes is August 29, 2017 at 11:59pm (PST). Absolutely no team changes can be made after that date.

TRANSFER ENTRY POLICY

The Transfer Entry Policy allows you to transfer your RBC GranFondo Whistler registration to another rider for a $100 transfer fee. Deadline for all transfers is August 29, 2016 at noon (12:00pm PST). Absolutely no transfers are permitted after that deadline. 

A position on a team is not included in the transfer (i.e. if you are receiving a transferred entry and want to be on a team, you must contact the team captain to add you to the team). Upgrade items purchased in the online store such as jerseys are not included in the transfer. To arrange pickup of such items, please contact info@rbcgranfondowhistler.com.

If you have technical issues or the transfer is not completed, you must contact Athlete Relations at info@rbcgranfondowhistler.com before the deadline of August 29, 2016 at noon (12:00pm PST).

Please note, payment for transfers and entry fees in these cases are the responsibility of the two individuals. RBC GranFondo Whistler accepts no responsibility of loss of payment.

If you are looking to register for the event and join an existing team, please follow the steps outline below.

Step 1: Go to the CCN Join Team page

Step 2: Join your team by clicking the “Join a Team” option.

Step 3: Signup or login. If you have participated in any previous GranFondo Canada events, then you already have a CCN user account. You can log in as an existing user. If you are new to CCN you can signup as a new user.

Step 4: Find your team. Search for your team by typing in the Team Name. You can also search by the Team Manager’s (Team Captain) name by selecting that option from the drop-down menu.

Please Note: If you cannot find your team it has more than likely been setup as a “private” team. You will need to be invited by your Team Captain via email or the Team Captain will need to change the visibility of the team to “public”.

Once you’ve found your team, click the blue Join Team button.

Step 4 a: Team access code. If an Access Code is required to join your team, be sure to contact your Team Captain to obtain it.

Step 5: Register a participant. This will be the most important part of the registration process. Please be sure to follow each step carefully.

  1. Select or Create a participant: In the drop-down option, under the blue bar noting “Details to be Entered”, select your profile or create a new one.
  2. Complete the profile form with all the required information marked with a red asterisk and save your profile
  3. Select or Create an address: All first-time registrants will need to create an address for their profile. In the drop-down menu which says “---Select Address---“choose to Create a New Address. Once complete be sure to save your address before continuing.
  4. Category Select: Choose which category you wish to enter. Review which category you are automatically put into based on your age and gender. If the category is incorrect, you will need to edit your profile to the correct age or gender. Click the “Save Category” button to proceed.
  5. Complete all the additional registrant information. All options marked with a red asterisk require an option selected.
  6. Now that you’ve completed all your registration information, the “Add to Cart” button will become blue. Click the blue “Add to Cart” button to complete your registration.

Step 5a: Register Another Participant. If you wish to register someone else, click the blue + symbol below your entry to add another participant and repeat Step 5 above.

Step 6: Checkout. If you wish to proceed to checkout click the blue “checkout” button

Step 7: Terms and Conditions. Read and agree to the event Terms and Conditions. Click “I Agree” to proceed.

Step 8: Summary of your registration. Review your registration to be sure all the details are correct

Step 9: Purchaser/Billing Address. All registrations need a Purchaser Address to be selected. If the address you are using is the same address entered for your registration, in the “---Select Address---“ drop-down you can choose the existing address. Otherwise create a new address and save it to your profile.

Step 9a: Payment. Enter your card details to complete your transaction. If your payment is refused please contact our payment provider 2Mevents at 1.888.988.2453 and they will assist and troubleshoot.

Step 11: Complete Transaction. Be sure to click the blue “Complete Transaction” button. Once your registration is processed you will see an on-screen confirmation and receive a confirmation email to the email address provided. 

You can confirm your registration by searching your name, email or team on the Confirm Your Registration page.

The designated staging area for licensed riders (who have held a valid UCI road cycling licence in Category 1-4 or Masters in the past five years since 2010) has been eliminated. It has been replaced with the Giro Category and is open to licensed riders in Cat 1, 2 or 3 and Masters with a Cat 1, 2 or 3. Sorry, Cat 4 is not qualified to ride in the Giro category this year. Giro riders will be asked to show their valid UCI license at Package Pickup. 

REFUNDS

No refunds are available for any reason, medical or otherwise. However, we do recognize that unforeseen events may occur. We have created the Transfer Entry Policy and Deferral Policy to help riders who become unable to ride with us.

Yes, we will transport one piece of personal luggage for all registered riders to the finish line. Please pack all of your belongings in a bag and drop it off at the Welcome GranFesta on Friday. Please note that due to the traffic delays on the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler on event morning, there will be no bag drop at the start line except for Alta Classe riders. 

Yes, we will be offering both passenger and bike transportation (travelling seperately) by bus from Whistler to Vancouver on Sunday, September 10, 2017

No - participants must come to the Welcome GranFesta and pick up their own packages. All riders will be asked for photo ID and to sign a waiver form as well.

Spectators are not permitted on the course and there are no safe places for spectators to pull over to the side of the road to watch. We recommend all spectators cheer riders at the Medio Start/Finish in Whistler.

Riders 18 and under must have a permission form signed by a parent and/or legal guardian in order to participate. A "Minor Participation Form" should be completed by their parents or legal guardian to authorize participation - contact info(at)granfondowhistler.com to request a copy. Minors are strongly encouraged to carry a cell phone, ride with an adult during the event, and ensure support are there to greet them at the finish area. The offical permission form will be emailed to all registered minors 2 weeks before the event. The signed permission form is to be handed in at the Solutions Desk at Velospoke Package Pickup on Friday, September 8th 2017 and the event ID will be given at that time to the participant.

Yes, absolutely! Riders can switch between categories at no charge. Please contact Rider Relations and we’ll make that happen for you. Email us at: info(at)granfondowhistler.com.

We recommend a well-maintained road bike for this journey. One that has been looked over by a bike mechanic recently and that you are comfortable with riding. Make sure that your gearing is suitable for riding the hills. Some riders may be tempted to ride their mountain bike on this journey. It can be done, but it's a harder challenge. The use of aerobars is not recommended for the RBC GranFondo Whistler and is, in fact, strongly discouraged. Please see Ride Rules for further details.

Some riders may want to use a Tandem bike - these bikes are deemed a “non-standard” bike. Riders wishing to use a non-standard bike must apply for permission by requesting and completing the Non-Standard Bicycle Application Form (email us for a copy). Only riders that submit the Application form and are approved by GranFondo Canada are permitted to ride a Tandem bike in the event. Please note, both riders must be registered and each have their own event wristband. Riders who do not have a wristband will be asked to leave the event.

Yes. We have a number of ways mechanical support is available throughout the event and for just a flat in need of a tube, we've got Ride Marshals  on course that will have a tube or two to help out. 

Riders are expected to be prepared on course with at least an intertube and pump. But in the event of mechanical problems assistance will be available at the start, the Rest Stops, and the finish. Mechanical stations will be equipped to fix flats and minor repairs or adjustments. To signal you need mechanical assistance, pull over to the side of the lane and turn your bike upside down so it's sitting on the handle bars and saddle.

If you're not comfortable changing a tire, head on down to your local bicycle shop and they will gladly show you how it's done.

The Giro is intended as a race with an anticipated finish time of 3 hours. In order to keep the Giro race compact and separated from the GranFondo division, only Category 1 to 3 licensed riders and Masters Cat 1 to 3 are permitted to participate in the Giro. Category 4 and 5 riders are encouraged to register in the GranFondo Division. 

Emergency Vehicles ALWAYS have the right of way. If a rider encounters an emergency vehicle, the rider is to give way to the emergency vehicle by pulling over, stopping and dismounting.

There are three distances for the event: Forte - 152km, GranFondo - 122km, and Medio - 55km.

Volunteering is a great way to be part of the experience without climbing the mountain. We'll need about 700 volunteers to make this a spectacular ride. Register as a volunteer on the website and review the roles available.

When you purchased your multiple registrations your confirmation included a link to forward to another rider. The link is an invitation to join you on a "team". (When you buy multiple entries it makes a team). They need to follow this link in order to complete the registration.
